Cupcake Day

On 13 June Howard’s Ainsdale branch held a fundraising day in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day is an annual event where people are encouraged to bake, buy, eat and share cupcakes in the fight against Dementia.

Dementia is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease. In the average time it takes to bake a batch of cakes, six people in the UK will develop dementia.

As well as the delicious confectionary on offer, the team organised a colouring competition with a local primary school, prize raffle, and guess the height of the cupcake tower.  Everyone who attended the day was asked to vote on the best cupcake coloured in.

A special thanks to those friends and local businesses who donated raffled prizes, who were also asked to select the winners.

A total of £100.00 was raised which will be given to the Alzheimer’s Society . Days like this help to fund pioneering research, crucial support services and vital care and Howard’s are proud to be making a difference.
